Shri.M.R.Vikram, Founder Treasurer Trustee and Current Secretary Trustee MVF

A graduate in Bachelor of Science from Osmania University and a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, he also has a graduate degree in law from Osmania University. He is a gold medallist in his graduate studies and a top ranker in the country in the Chartered Accountancy exam.

He specialises in the audit of banks and is acknowledged as an expert in issues regarding the central statutory audit of banks and financial institutions. In the past three decades, he led a team that conducted an audit of the Reserve Bank of India and four other nationalized banks. He has conducted compliance studies of the exchange reserves of the country, redesigned the accounting manuals of RBI and was a member of the team to introduce the RTGS payment & settlement system in RBI. He was also Chairman of the group of four leading Chartered Accountant firms in India, benchmarking RBI’s balance sheet and disclosure practices with leading Central Banks in the world.

 

He leads a team of specialists consisting of Chartered Accountants and software professionals conducting Investigation and Forensic audits on behalf of regulatory authorities such as RBI & IRDA and his reports are known for insight and objectivity.

He has served as a Director of Indian Bank as a Chartered Accountant Director in 1995 and in the next 5 years, as a Chairman of the Audit Committee and a Member of the Managing Committee. He later became a director of Indian Overseas Bank (2007-10) and was also a nominee of the RBI on the Bank of Rajasthan Ltd (2010-11). He was the Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Managing Committees in these two banks, too.

In 1998, he joined the Board of ASM Technologies Ltd (ASM), (www.asmltd.com) a leading ERP and Engineering Services company with subsidiaries in India, Singapore and USA. ASM employs more than 1000 software professionals. He is presently the Chairman of the company as well as the Chairman of the Audit Committee. He served as Independent Director in SDG Software Technologies Ltd., which specialised in Risk Management Systems for Stock Exchanges and developed tools for Anti Money laundering in Banks. He is also the Independent Director of Wings Infosystems Ltd, a company specialising in Accounting and Business software. Wings sells its products in more than 10 countries.

In addition he is an Independent Director of T.I.M.E which is India’s largest MBA and Engineering Entrance Exam training institution. He is an Independent Director of many companies including Chettinad Cements Ltd., Facebook India and GTN Engineering Ltd advising them on a variety of issues including policy, oversight, taxation and regulatory compliance.

Mr.M.R.Vikram advises on issues of Corporate Governance, cross border deals, valuations, shareholder agreements including with multinational entities. He continues to lead a team specialising in Mergers & Acquisitions and has spearheaded many transactions in this space. He is presently monitoring the performance of leading Industrial and Financial Conglomerates with group turnovers in excess of USD 10bn in India and reporting to Regulatory Authorities on issues of systemic and financial risk.

Not For Profit Activities

Mr.M.R.Vikram is a Founder Trustee of M Venkatarangaiya Foundation (MVF) (www.mvfindia.in) and is presently the Secretary Trustee of the Foundation. MVF is known internationally for its pioneering work in fighting child labour. In the past two decades it has liberated more than a million children from work and enrolled them into schools all over India. MVF’s model of community mobilisation has been replicated in more than 15 countries in Asia and Africa.

He is also the Founder Trustee of Manthan, (www.manthanindia.com) a discussion platform in Hyderabad on issues of public interest set up with the intention of nurturing an intellectual platform on matters of public interest. Manthan has more than 5000 members, many of whom regularly debate in the group, and is probably the only platform of this kind in India.

He is the Chairman of REEDS, which works on issues of Livelihood skills, and Trustee of the Centre for Collective Development which works on farmer issues.

He is also the Founder Trustee of Project 511 (www.project511.org). The project works with more than 1000 schools in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, helping to strengthen school infrastructure and improve investment in teaching aids.

He was earlier Advisor to the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust, working on issues of policy and implementation of development programs. Much of his current work focuses on extending NGO support to distant and vulnerable areas in the country.

Others

He was the Chairman of the Hyderabad Branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (2000), Member of the Southern India Council of the Institute (1991-94). He is presently the Chairman of the CII Panel at Hyderabad on Corporate Social Responsibility and the Member of the CII National Committee on Backward Areas Earlier he was the Chairman of the CII (AP) Panel on Finance & Taxation. He is a regular speaker and paper writer on a variety of topics including Governance, Fraud, Ethics and Corporate Social responsibility.
